Adele

AdeleAdkins was raised by a single mother in various working-class areas of London. She was a lover of contemporary pop songs when she was a kid and was adept at playing the guitar and clarinet. It wasn't until she was in her teens that she was introduced to Etta James, a r&b singerand other musicians in the late 20th century that she started to think about a career in music. While she was honed in her skills at a government-funded secondary school for the performing arts, a friend started posting songs Adkins wrote and recorded on the social networking site Myspace. The music she wrote and recorded eventually caught the attention of recording companies and, in 2006, several months after graduating, she signed a contract with XL Recordings.
